Global Warming

There are some people that say global warming is a recurring cycle that the earth takes and has no consequence that we should not be concerned about it. That probably was true in the past, but what about today?

In previous global warming periods, there were people here taking care of the planet. There were fewer people here. Not the seven billion-plus that are here today. Seven billion people, most of them are polluting the atmosphere, destroying nature, trashing up the earth, the oceans… the rivers, the lakes…

We have now discovered how to pull oil, natural gas, coal, and other atmosphere destroying minerals from the earth… Just think how oil allows pistons and other metals to function without destroying the engines. Inside the earth, there are plates that when they connect cause earthquakes and other destroying factors… Taking the oil out of the earth may make this happen more often and more destructively…

Also, there has been great destruction to our forest.

Trees clean the air by absorbing carbon dioxide and other pollutants. A single mature tree can absorb 48 pounds of carbon dioxide and release enough oxygen to support two people each year (McAliney, 1993). Many cities are turning to nature as a means for clean water, opting to invest in tree planting in watersheds instead of additional water treatment. The Journal of Arboriculture reports that Urban forests are better than traditional flood control systems at protecting water quality, especially during small storm events. Additionally, trees keep communities cool through transpiration, helping to reduce the urban heat island effect. These are just a few of the ways urban trees help communities.

Never before were there so many machines polluting the earth, destroying the atmosphere. In some cities, the visibility is so bad that breathing and visibility are greatly hampered. This increases health problems. In some cities, people wear masks to breathe.

Thankfully, we have learned to capture the healthy God-given energies that are available… Sun and wind, hopefully, will take over… The jobs that will be created will be much safer than those in the Oil Fields and Coal Mines and there will be so many more jobs¬†available to more people…

In Canada, people have been living off the grid, creating their own electricity and capturing rainwater for decades. Germany is 80% wind and solar power…

In the past few months, we have seen how fragile the structures that generate our electricity is…

Many people went without electricity for weeks and some died… The time to get serious about alternative energy… energy produced by the wind and the sun… and to become more environmentally aware that we need to do more to work with nature, stop polluting and trashing up the planet our children will inherit…

Many knowable people have weighed in on the seriousness of global warming… Two notable figures are Bill Gates and Pope Francis…
