Mother Teresa said “Your Vocation is to belong to Jesus. He has chosen you for Himself and the work is only a means of your love for Him in action. There for it does not matter what work you are doing, but the main thing is that you belong to Him, that you are His and that He gives you the means to do this for Him.”
Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom…
[It] is no servile fear, but rather a joyful awareness of God’s grandeur and a grateful realization that only in him do our hearts find true peace.” Roman Catholicism counts this fear as one of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit…
Again from Mother Teresa “All we do — our prayer, our work, our suffering, is for Jesus. Our life has no other reason or motivation.” She goes on to say if whatever we we do is for Him, He will give us strength.
Mother Teresa said she always takes visitors first to the chapel to prayer awhile. She says, l tell them, “Let us greet the Master of the house. Jesus is here.”
One of our callings is to be an attractive example of the faith.
Saint Augustine tells us, ” If you wish to imitate the multitude, then you shall not be among the few who enter through the narrow gate.”
Matthew Kelly points out the wisdom in the nursery rhyme Row, Row, Row Your Boat. The first lesson is keep it simple and second, be gentle with yourself.
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream
The little rhyme tells us to engage, row; don’t drift through life. Row! But row gently and row downstream. This could be a great way to get in the flow of the Lord. And as you go along, be in good spirits as you enjoy the God given beauty of nature made just for you at this very moment.
So maybe a boat and a stream are unavailable at the moment. A leisure walk in the nature of a park or your neighborhood. Merrily go along bringing cheer and good words to all you meet. Lift spirits, warm hearts. Let everyone know they are loved, as they are, by you and the good Lord.
This way you keep the Lord front as the center of your life. As Mother Teresa says, The work, the action is only a means of our love for Him in action.
Take it to the bank; God loves you and want you to visit Him often… in prayer, in sharing your faith in God by your actions and words, in good works, and most of all in visiting in His house. As a parent you know how bad it is when your children don’t come around. We are God’s Children of God and He wishes to see us in His house (the church) often.
