Some of the Many Facts about Texas

Texas is larger than any country in Europe.

Dr. Pepper was invented in Waco, Texas in 1885.

Texas was once an independent nation, stretching almost to the Canadian Border.

As you can see when Texas became part of the United States, to which Texas owed a lot of money, to settle the debt Texas gave up a lot of land. That land now makes up part of New Mexico, the Oklahoma panhandle, and parts of Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming.

The word Texas comes from the Caddo Indian word Tejas, which means friend. The motto of Texas is Friendship.

The largest Rose Garden in the nation is in Tyler. Fourteen acres, 38,000 bushes, and 500 varieties. They have been hosting a Rose Festival since 1933.

The first Rodeo was held in Pecos, Texas and it is still going. There is a bit of a controversy over the First Indoor Rodeo. Wichita, Kansas, or Fort Worth. The one in Fort Worth was held March 11 to 16, 1918, in the Northside Coliseum in the Stockyards. The Stock Show and Rodeo actually trademarked the phrase, “The World’s Original Indoor Rodeo,” in 2012 and has been recognized as such by the Texas Legislature.

The largest rodeo in the nation is in Houston.

Texas has three of the largest cities in the nation, Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas 4 – 7- 9.

Texas also has the smallest city in the nation; the official population is three… but as Waylon Jennings so apply told us to go to Luckenbach, Texas, hundreds of people converge on the town on weekends to hear

The world’s very first margarita machine was invented in Dallas on May 11, 1971, by Mariano Martinez. who also came up with the frozen margarita. They were both popular from the very begining.
